Venus Williams upsets world No. 1 Angelique Kerber at Miami Open
Venus Williams overcame world No. 1 Angelique Kerber to set up a Miami Open semifinal against Johanna Konta. Williams, bidding for her 50th WTA Tour title, reached the last four with a hard-fought 7-5, 6-3 win over Kerber on Wednesday. The American seven-time Grand Slam champion broke Kerber's serve five times on her way to the semifinals. Williams, also a three-time winner in Miami, and Kerber traded breaks twice in the first set before the 11th seed claimed the decisive one in the 12th game.
