Charles "Chuck" O'Bannon, the son of former UCLA star Charles O’Bannon, was added Thursday to the 2017 recruiting class at … USC?
Chuck O'Bannon — the nephew of another Bruins standout, Ed O'Bannon — is a five-star recruit and McDonald's All-American from Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas.
“Chuck is an excellent all-around basketball player who is a great fit for our system” Trojans coach Andy Enfield said in the announcement by USC. “We are excited to add his offensive explosiveness and his size and length at the guard position. Chuck has a great passion for the game of basketball and Trojan fans will enjoy watching him play.”
At 6-6, 200 pounds, O'Bannon is the No. 41 prospect in the country in the class of 2017, according to 247Sports.com, and the No. 10 shooting guard. He averaged 21.4 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.0 assists to earn all-state honors in 2016-17 and was part of four consecutive Nevada Class 4A titles for Bishop Gorman.
Charles O’Bannon Sr. was a starter on UCLA’s 1995 national championship team and went on to be a second-round pick in the 1997 NBA Draft. Ed O’Bannon also starred on the 1994-95 Bruins team and was the ninth overall pick in the 1995 NBA Draft.
